bob pendarvis: songs

robot boy...now THERE'S a sad story. i still remember the exact moment when i first realized that i wouldn't live forever...that one day i would die. yikes!

i was in a car, traveling to see our relatives back home in shreveport, louisiana (where i grew up...i was BORN in savannah, georgia) and it just all of a sudden hit me:
nobody lives forever. dang!

being a lifelong comics and sci-fi fan (harlan ellison be damned...go forry ackerman), i was a HUGE supporter of robot technology. heck, the robot on LOST IN SPACE practically raised me...well, not without some help from my first crush, penny robinson, but i digress. anyhooz, it came to me that robots held the answer to my problem. all i'd need to do is have them (the scientist guys who do these things) put my head in a robot body and then i could live forever...ha ha ha ha ha!!!

as of this writing, i'm still waiting...sigh.

i was just a wee small lad

they scared me so and made me cry

for days i sat out in the the yard
i tried and tried to think real hard
there must be something i could do

i'd study hard in science class
make all "A"s and not just pass
i'd get a job that pays a lot
so i could build a cool robot
a metal body just for me

the years have passed, now i'm a man
i never carried out my plan
i live in a nice neighborhood
my job is great and life is good
still, my skin i'd gladly trade
if robot bodies could be made
